As usual, The "istrice"
is about to treat itself to a brief spell of hibernation.
After the New-Year festivities and a big wedding reception celebrated
on the Epiphany night, La Tana dell'Istrice closed the main
door until the first day of Spring, 21st March 2008.
Despite a very slow season, due to the strenght of our currency, we
have registered a noticeable increase in the number of Italian guests
and of clients joining us through the Internet. Our restaurant, moreover,
is attracting growing numbers of visitors, especially from the small
groups of foreigners who spend their holidays in villas situated in
our area, eager to discover everything that the region holds in store.
The so-called "wine experience" features prominently on
our list. It is very pleasing to see guests from diverse backgrounds
meet in our cellars, taste the Mottura wines, exchange impressions,
preferences and experiences, and then even become friends, share a
dinner and, possibly, the rest of their stay.
So as to maximize the Tana's facilities, we are endeavouring
to organize sojourns of at least one week, throughout which we aim
at providing not only tasters of our vinological and gastronomical
expertise but also opportunities for interesting sightseeing. This
project is already being developed in collaboration with the English
agency "Tastes of Italy" which, twice in the course of the
coming year, will be bringing groups of beauty-lovers to this part
of Tuscia.
We are concurrently seeking partners willing to pursue the project
in Italy.
Our
Offers
One of the most polular and required features is the guided
tour of Sergio Mottura cellars, lead by Mr. Mottura itself,
who will disveil for you the beautiful underground tufo cellar situated
beneath the hotel, and will give you the rare opportunity to describe
every single wine you will happen to taste.
Wine-tasting continues over dinner, throughout which traditional l
dishes feature in combination with different wines. At certain times
of the year, it is also possible to observe the preparation
of sparkling wines, take part in the vintage and in the
gathering and pressing of olives.
We will be delighted to map out the area for you by highlighting theme-based
routes including visits to magnificent villas, mansions and historic
gardens, such as Caprarola and the sumptuous Palazzo Farnese with
its monumental garden, Bagnaia and the Villa Lante Park, the Villa
of Monsters at Bomarzo commissioned by Prince Orsini and, at Vignanello,
Castello Ruspoli and its Italian garden, which Princess Claudia is
kindly prepared to open to the public by appointment. Other less famous
but not less intriguing venues in the region are also worthy of exploration
and will accordingly be recommended.
